Question: What is God’s will for my life?
Answer: God’s will for my life is to live a holy life (Romans 12:2).
God’s will is sovereign, as Jesus says in John 4:34. His will is always for our good and for our freedom (Romans 8:20–21, 28). Yes, God has plans for everyone — you were born for such a time as this (Ephesians 2:10).
God’s will for our lives is to do good works for His kingdom and to keep His Word (Ephesians 5:17; 1 Thessalonians 4:3). It is also His will that we give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18) and pray according to His will (James 4:15).
The will of God may look different for each of us, yet it is the same in its purpose — to honor Him with our lives. Trying to discover every detail of God’s plan for the future can feel like asking for a magic ball to reveal all the answers. But that’s not who God is. That kind of desire often reveals our struggle to trust Him.
Instead, we are called to trust our Creator and Heavenly Father (Jeremiah 29:11–13). Let us seek Jesus first (Matthew 6:33–34). God doesn’t hand us a complete blueprint for our lives (Deuteronomy 29:29), but He gives us direction through His Word and promises to instruct and counsel us (Psalm 32:8).
